The cheese is in the shower

I’ve been making cheese now for a whole week! I made Fromage Blanc. It was GONE within an hour. My wife took one bite and started making Paula Deen’s Gooey Butter Cake but with my Fromage Blanc rather than cream cheese. It was unbelievably good.

Then I made another batch.  She made another two cakes but we had enough for some deserts.

Then she told me to make a double batch.

Now I don’t have a cool place to hang the cheese to drain so I came up with the bright idea of hanging them in the shower. This time, with a double batch, I had to rig up a piece of wood to hold the two apart.

My son has been asking for more cake so this morning I walked up to him and said,

“Son, the cheese is in the shower”

Then it occurred to me that never in 51 years have I put those words together in that order. What an odd sentence.

I mentioned this forum to my wife (whose interest in chesse extends to eating it or selling it). She laughed and said, “Who wants to look at pictures of fermented dairy products?”

Ummmm… well.

Boy, I understand it. I’ve looked at some of the pictures here and thought “if my cheese looked like that I would scoop it up with a shovel and bury it, afraid it would contaminate our landfill”

Only to discover that’s how it is SUPPOSED to look.

LOL, yes its very educational to see how it develops and teaches us not to panic when it becomes furry.
