Hello All! I am new today! Thank You Rick for letting me in! You are all such an interesting group!!  I am wondering if anyone has used plastic canvas as mats and those plastic storage containers (i call em all Tupperware!!) as molds-i am gonna try to use a small paper punch to make holes in the “tupperware” for drainage-and “shoe boxes” from the dollar store to catch the whey-i also use muslin instead of cheesecloth—much easier to wash!!!!! any DIY ideas welcome thanks so much!!  I also make Mead and wine-and LOVE making bread!!!!!!!

I have used containers and used a drill on them, works fine, as long its the shape u want. The cloth, make sure it does not stick to the cheese and makes it hard to peel off, if it has lots of fibers then it might stick real good to the cheese.

Welcome !!

For your holes, you might try using either your punch or a small nail and heating it on the stove or in a candle flame.  It will then melt through the plastic quite nicely.  This way, you can be quite specific about the size hole you want.
