Recently I mentioned that I made a new press. I heard it’s called a Dutch type, how convenient…
From some math-sites on the internet I found out (after I pressed my first Gouda with too less weight) that for this press it’s 1:12.
Every pound will give 12 pounds pressure.
And 2 pictures taken from the farm where I buy my milk, also very Dutch.
Yes, these cows make my milk…

I like the press.  Some day I’ll get around to making one for myself.  And I liked the farm pics also.  Question:  are the windmills still functional, or are they just “picturesqe?”

@ Rich: If you want, I can make a description about how it’s build. About the windmills: I don’t know about that particular one, but some are still in use for water management, some are still used for grain milling and some are redesigned to live in.
@ Neil: I know you’re in to photography, the one on the forum is a tone mapped HDR, do you want that one or the original one and how do I mail it? Can you send me an email address or ftp location by PM?

Yes, Herman, some plans would be helpful.  The winter would be a good time to build one; since it’s the “slow” season for me.  Not much to be doing outside with the garden all put up for the winter and nothing else growing to be taken care of.

Ok Rich, but you’ll have to give me some time. English is not my native language so I have to translate terms and sizes…

No problem.  And, might I say, that your English has come across as quite good.

My husband made me a dutch cheese press but it doesn’t have nice pulley system. We hang weights on the arm, and it’s according to where you put the weight as to how much it presses. We put a bathroom scale on it and moved the weights around and marked on the arm how much it was pressing where.

Windmills don’t look like that here. I think it would be impressive to see one in person. I attached a picture of what most of the windmills that I have seen look like.

lol, well, whatever kind of press you use, it’s the resulting cheese that counts!
Besides a different windmill, it’s a different kind of landscape as well, but a nice picture…
