Phlox This photo of Phlox was taken by Rick on 5/6/2005. It seems a bit early for Phlox, this was the only flowering plant we saw. I am unsure of the exact variety. They bloom in white, purple, and blue mostly along disturbed areas (like roadsides) around the cabin. 0 05/10/2005

Sagebrush Buttercup Another of the early Spring flowers, Sagebrush Buttercups. This one is emerging from under the snow. Photo taken by Lynne on 5/8/2005. 0 05/10/2005

Sagebrush Buttercups Photo by Lynne on 5/6/2005. These flowers were under snow just a couple of days earlier. They are among the earliest wildflowers to bloom at the cabin. 0 05/10/2005

First Pink Plume of the Year This photo was taken by Lynne on 5/18/2005. It is the first Pink Plume we've seen this year. 0 05/19/2005

Mertensia oblongifolia - Bluebell Photo by Lynne on 5/18/2005. A small bright blue flower. We are not positive of the identification. All our flower books are at the cabin! 0 05/19/2005

Need Help on this One! Photo by Lynne on 5/18/2005. We don't know what this is or how much more it might bloom. The flower is about 4 inches tall. There are tiny, tiny yellow "flowers" all along the top. 0 05/19/2005

Will ID Tomorrow Photo by Lynne on 5/18/2005. We need to look this one up. I'll edit this entry when we figure it out. This is a purplish flower on the end of a fairly long stem (12"). 0 05/19/2005

Calypso Bulbosa Also known as "Fairy Slipper", this is a fairly rare mountain wildflower that is an orchid. This photo was submitted by Fred Johnson. He took the photo near Red Feather Lakes, probably sometime in mid-Summer. We get quite a few of these on the cabin land down near the creek. Thanks for Fred for this great photo! 0 05/25/2005

Stemless Evening Primrose Another great photo from Fred Johnson. He is calling this a Stemless Evening Primrose. Photo taken along Sportsman Lake Road on May 23rd, 2005. 0 05/26/2005

Wood Violet Rick learned a lesson on this one. He posted this photo and originally called it a Mountain Bluebell. After alll, it was blue and looked a lot like the Mountain Bluebells posted earlier. The lesson is to always check with Lynne! Shortly after posting it, Fred Johnson left a comment pointing out that it was a Violet, not a Bluebell. And, he was right and Lynne was mad at me for not checking with her...so, here it is a Wood or Blue Violet. Photo by Lynne on 5/27/2005. 0 05/29/2005
