Unidentified Oyster-Like Mushroom
This mushroom grew on wood along the base of an aspen tree. It looked a lot like an oyster mushroom, but probably not. Photo by Rick, 7/24/2004. |

Pleurocybella Porrigens
This variety of oyster mushroom is beautiful, edible, and tasty! We had these with a dinner of scallops in a cream sauce. I think the recipe is on my main web site. Photo by Lynne, 7/24/2004. |

Pleurocybella Porrigens Close-up

These were growing on wood, at the base of a dead aspen tree. I marked the spot and we'll be looking for them next year! Photo by Lynne, 7/24/2004. |

Probably a "Shrimp Russula"
I think this is a Shrimp Russula. I'll need to look up the latin name. If so, it should be edible. It has a distinct "fishy" odor and is supposedly good in a cream sauce over noodles. It has purple colors and rosy colored gills. |

From Cortinaria Genus
I don't know what this is. It is probably from the cortinaria genus. There are thousands of cortinaria mushrooms, so I'll probably never be able to know exactly what it is. The photo does not do justice to this mushrooms blue-ish coloring. They grew prolifically in one very small area near the creek -- nowhere else. Photo by Rick in late July, 2004. |

Armillaria Straminea
We think this is an Armillaria Straminea. This is one of the most beautiful mushrooms we've found around the cabin. This was growing a few hundred feet from the cabin in rich soil under aspen trees. It is a beautiful bright yellow color. Photo by Lynne in late July. |

Another Photo of the Cortinaria
You may not be able to see the purplish-lavendar color. But, this mushroom has beautiful color. |
