Fred Johnson submitted this photo with the following comment: "This photo of Blue Penstemon (Penstemon cyaneus) was taken at Sand Creek on May 28, 2005. Craighead et al. say that 'with its sky-blue corolla and purplish tube [it] is readily located in the sagebrush and along roadsides.'"
