This relation to the rose can be recognized by the rose-like leaves, but no thorns on the stalks. The flowers are often ragged and unattractive. This matures to create a sweet edible berry with a soft pit. We have a couple of these bushes near the cabin. Photo by Lynne on 6/9/2005.
