Unidentified
A lot of my mushroom photos will be "unidentified". Hundreds of different mushrooms grow on the cabin land, and most are very hard for me to identify. This cluster of mushrooms were among the first we saw this year. This photo was taken on 6/11/2005. They are growing right up next to a dead aspen trunk. Photo by Lynne. These mushrooms were gilled. The gills were attached to the stalk, and white to maybe a light cream color. The stalk was very fiberous and did not break clean. My best guess would be Lyophyllum decastes also called Fried Chicken Mushrooms or, in Japan, shimenji.
