The Ultimate Internet Video
Finally, the ultimate justification for the existence of the Internet and YouTube. A cat dressed as a shark, riding a Roomba, chasing a duckling, with a cameo appearance by a dog in costume. This one has it all.

NAB 2013
Was at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas last week. We "pre-introduced" the Phantom Flex4K--a 4K camera capable of 1000 frames-per-second acquisition at the DCI 4K spec of 4096x2160. It was a hit!
A pre-introduction means that final feature set, specifications and pricing is not set, but that the camera program is far enough along that we were able to show a nice demo reel and reveal the top-line capabilities. You can follow the development program throughout the summer by following @PhantomFlex4K on Twitter or PhantomFlex4K on FaceBook as well as on the VRI blog at http://www.visionresearch.com
The demo reel was shot with two cameras that had been built and turned-on for the first time two weeks prior. Here it is:

First Use of Wired-In Generator
I got back on the red-eye from Las Vegas this morning. I'd been attending the NAB trade show where we pre-introduced the Phantom Flex4K. I'll post about that later.
This post is to announce that I came home to rain and some wind, and while napping for a bit this morning, we lost power! We are not really sure why because the rain is not hard nor is the wind strong. But, the power is out and so, for the first time, we are powering the house from the generator. We have lights, heat, one hot water heater, and obviously power to write this post.

Vinyl
A couple of weeks ago, Lynne and I were spending some time in the basement going through some of the boxes of stuff down there. We've been trying to spend an hour or two a week going through "yours, mine, and ours" stuff. Oh, and stuff from Mom Monroe, too.
We stumbled across a box of vinyl 33rpm LP albums. I decided it would be a good idea to record all of them digitally. So, I went onto Amazon and bought an Audio-Technica turntable with USB output. I hooked up to my MBP and installed Audacity software. Now, I am sitting here recording Billy Joel's "The Stranger". Over the past week I recorded a couple of old John Denver albums, too. The dates on these are around 1977! And, so far they are in great shape.
I save them as AIFF files and can then import them into iTunes where I can load them onto the iPod and have this great music available in the car, by the pool, or on the Bose player we have in the house.
Next up is a George Winston album from 1981. And, there is a box of probably a hundred more downstairs.
