Call us Crazy! “Sam I Am” Joins the Family
Tonight we brought Sam home. Sam is a 13-week old Maine Coon Cat. Here are a couple of photos. I’ll post more as comments as we take them.
He is adapting to the household and the dogs pretty well. He has Sailor scared to death—won’t walk past him. For the most part, the dogs are curious, but could care less. Ebay seems to be a bit upset. Two Shoes hasn’t a clue…
Sam’s breeders are going to be showing him in regional cat shows. Cat showing is a whole new world—one we are probably not going to get into. But, if Sam likes showing, they will take him on the occasional weekend and try to get his kitty championship (not the right vocabulary for cats, I know).
He will accompany us to New Mexico for a week in mid-April and have his first show in Colorado Springs the last weekend in April.
Stay tuned!

A Cat Show Comes to Town
Most of you know that we show Bernese Mountain Dogs, and have been in the dog show world for 10 years or so. But, this weekend, we decided to attend a cat show being held at the county fair grounds. Cat shows are run very differently from dog shows and seem to be a lot of fun. We walked around and looked at all the different cats (over 200 representing over 30 breeds), and we watched some judging.

Natural Pet Repellent
Lynne sent along the following information the other day. We have a need to keep the dogs out of the garden, so we’ll be trying this next year!

Yes, Dogs can Nurse Kittens
When we got our kitten, eBay, (it is a long story), she was only 3 or 4 weeks old. She was ugly and scrawny….and, hungry. We had two dogs able to produce a little milk, Mira and Margaux. Here is a photo of Margaux, nursing eBay.
