A Terrific Web Site for One-of-a-Kind, Hand-made Stuffed Animals
A year ago, or so, Lynne discovered several auctions on eBay featuring hand-made “teddy bears” from a woman in Germany. She makes bears, but also other critters like dogs and cats. Most of her creations are one-of-a-kind or are made in very limited quantities. They are extraordinarily well made and of the highest quality.
We have adopted two of her creations: Happy the Bernese Mountain Dog puppy and Feivel the bear that wants to be a mouse.
These make great unique and special gifts. But, I’m featuring her web site here to encourage you to explore her site and the creativity she brings to her photography and web site design. She makes these critters come to life!
The web site is in German, but very self-explanatory. There is an “eBay” link that will take you to her German eBay auctions. To find her stuff on the American eBay site, just search for seller: “baerenliebe-teddys”. (Be sure you do a search for seller, not just a general search or you won’t get any results.)

I Bought Something from an Infomercial
I am almost embarassed to admit it, but I recently purchased something by calling a 1-800 number after watching an infomercial. But, I am so pleased with my purchase, that I’m willing to confess to it and even recommend it to you…

Rick Hits Major Milestone Today
This morning, I stepped on the scale after taking my shower as I do every morning, and the scale read 210.0 pounds. While I’ve been flirting with hitting 210 pounds for a month or so, this is the first time I actually hit my target weight!
I started at 245 pounds about 6 months ago. Together, Lynne and I chose to go on the South Beach Diet and we have both seen dramatic results. Sure, it was hard at first to give up potatoes and sweets and pasta, but the results have been dramatic. And, now that we are at our target weights, we are reintroducing some of those foods into our diet.
Nevertheless, this is a life-long change in the way we cook and eat. Frankly, we are probably eating more and better now than we ever have.
This weekend, it is off to the mall to celebrate by buying tighter clothes. I’m getting really tired of cynching my loose pants up around my waist.

3D Images
I figured out how to create anaglyphs (3D images that must be viewed through special glasses) using Photoshop. This technique is used for still and moving pictures. The recent Spy Kids movie uses this technique, for example. So, if you have a pair of the glasses that have a red tint for the left eye and a blue tint for the right eye, check out these photos of Lynne standing in front of some aspen trees at our cabin. One is in black and white, which is relatively easy to create. The other is in color, which is a bit more difficult.
(Note, the images are fairly large, about 170Kb each, so if you are on a dial-up connection you’ll have to wait a while. If you want to go ahead and view these, just click on “more”.)

Customer Service, NOT!
I just had the most bizarre experience. Lynne and I are planning to make a provisioning trip to the cabin tomorrow, taking up large and bulky items we need like paper towels, dog biscuits, etc. And, we needed to leave this morning, early, to take Daisy to a vet for X-rays in Castle Rock. So, I took off about 8:30 this morning to do the shopping.
At about 9:30 I stopped at Sam’s Club to get the bulk paper towels and dog biscuits. I flashed my membership card as I entered the store, as I always do, and was refused entry! “You cannot shop until 10:00.” The store was clearly open and people were shopping. I just stood there with my mouth hanging open, “what do you mean I can’t shop until 10:00?”
