I Was About to Abandon This, But…

I started a new weaving project prior to our Albuquerque visit and subsequent injuries. It was an experimental table runner where I was working with new materials (a quilting jelly roll), and technique (rag rug weaving). After a few rows, I was about to cut it off the loom and abandon the whole idea. I thought it was pretty ugly with the abrupt color changes. But, it stayed on the loom since I could not do any weaving (or much else) for a couple of months.

Finished runner. It is about 34" without the fringe, 40" with the fringe. The light is not great here, but you can see the colors, I hope.

In the new year, I decided to go ahead and finish it. It was good therapy and I really hate abandoning a project.

Now that it is done, I'm pretty happy with it. It sure is festive! We'll use it as a table runner when serving a festive meal--maybe something Mexican.
