Vinyl

A couple of weeks ago, Lynne and I were spending some time in the basement going through some of the boxes of stuff down there. We've been trying to spend an hour or two a week going through "yours, mine, and ours" stuff. Oh, and stuff from Mom Monroe, too.

We stumbled across a box of vinyl 33rpm LP albums. I decided it would be a good idea to record all of them digitally. So, I went onto Amazon and bought an Audio-Technica turntable with USB output. I hooked up to my MBP and installed Audacity software. Now, I am sitting here recording Billy Joel's "The Stranger". Over the past week I recorded a couple of old John Denver albums, too. The dates on these are around 1977! And, so far they are in great shape.

I save them as AIFF files and can then import them into iTunes where I can load them onto the iPod and have this great music available in the car, by the pool, or on the Bose player we have in the house.

Next up is a George Winston album from 1981. And, there is a box of probably a hundred more downstairs.
