As I type this entry in our room at the Astor Crowne Hotel situated at the corner of Bourbon and Canal Streets, I am getting a live concert. No matter that we are on the sixth floor; the jazz wafts upwards and our room faces out towards Bourbon Street.. It’s pretty loud, and I must admit, the performers are not very talented. Oh well. That’s New Orleans for you!

Well, here I am in New Orleans doing a little Mardi Gras shopping. You’ve always wondered what I look like; now you know. I might appear a bit wooden and stiff, but if you’d been walking the streets of the French Quarter all morning you might look much the same.
Today was grey and rainy so I did my walking early. New Orleans was not really awake before noon so I was able to take some photos without looking like too much of a tourist. Still, my camera gave me away. Several guys wanted me to take their photo [I didn’t] and as I strolled past one worker said “Welcome to New Orleans, baby ... “

We’re off for a week to New Orleans! I hope to blog from there at least once or twice but don’t really know how possible that is going to be. So, if you follow this blog and begin to wonder why I haven’t posted, you’ll know!
