I am a Weather Godess

I always knew it. Now I have proof. I am A Weather Godess. No matter where we live I can guarantee that the weather will be not the norm. Case in point: it’s a freakin’ blizzard in Colorado right now. I just talked to my friend Linda in Denver and they are SNOWED IN. On the flip side, here in New Jersey, where by the way, people told us we were crazy to move to because of cold winters, are in the 40s and 50s with no chance of snow. Go figure. You want good weather? Okay then, just ask me to move to your locale.  You want snow? Same answer, ask me to move elsewhere. I am really getting tired of this. This has happened more than once.

Coincidence? I think not.

GRRRRR. Bah Humbug to you all with snow tonight.

Countdown to Christmas: Rocky Mountain High

Since we have no snow here in New Jersey and really none in the forecast, I am going to share some Colorado Cabin photos this week. We are missing our cabin so!

New Jersey Santa

Santa Claus is a Jersey guy. The image of Santa Claus we Americans all know and love—jolly, rotund, rosy-cheeked—was the creation of Thomas Nast, a long-time resident of Morristown.

From the 1820s on, inspired by Clement Moore’s “A Visit From St. Nicholas,” artists in the United States had turned out graphic images of St. Nick, many of them drawn from European models. But none seemed to stick. Nast’s Santa capture the imagination of the American public.

Nast drew his first versions of Santa during the Civil War to Harper’s Weekly, but it was during the 1870s and the 1880s, from his home in Morristown, that he developed the images of Santa adored throughout the world today.

About

Welcome, I'm Lynne. You know me better as a 'new' Jersey Girl. But now I've moved once again, this time to North Carolina. Here I write about my thoughts, good food, and of course, dogs.
