Discarded Dolls & Other Objects

Okay, maybe I am in a strange mood today, or maybe it's the winter doldrums, but I've wanted to post some of these pics for a while now. It's not my usual "thing," but when I see something I think is worth taking a photograph of, I do. I'm not sure you will agree, but here they are anyway, bizarre as they may be. A few were taken a couple of years ago and two were taken just yesterday. All but one were taken at Long Pond Ironworks.

Abandoned antique wheelbarrow. Long Pond Ironworks. Yesterday.

Abandoned toy in a dilapidated shed. Long Pond Ironworks, yesterday.

It makes you wonder how they got there and why they were abandoned. What is the story behind them?

Comments:

My first reaction to the first photo - was “OOOh, ouch” because the doll’s butt is right on the broken branch!  Maybe not the reaction you were going for! grin  All the photos of the toys just look sad (except maybe for the Barbie doll - it looks more forgotten than abandoned or discarded?), so like the wheelbarrow photo best.  Makes the most sense considering where it was left.  Get any snow Tuesday/Wednesday?  We just got a slight dusting, but the wind was nasty.

And, don’t forget about all the legos and plastic dinosaurs we find in the yard!

While skiing at Jackson Hole a few years ago, I came across an area in the woods that was FULL of barbies….. was kinda creepy.

You did an amazing job on these photos, what a great eye you have!  Except for the creepy baby, I probably wouldn’t have noticed most of these abandoned objects. I think I remember the Barbie…on the walkway, wasn’t I there then?

Long Pond Ironworks looks like a very interesting place I’d like to see.

Kid drops doll, doesn’t realize it immediately, then pleads with parents to go back, but parents say no. End of story!

Lost toys always make me feel bad. I just think of that miserable kid. But honestly, many kids today have so many toys, maybe they didn’t even notice!

C, yes, ouch indeed! Nope, no snow—not even a flurry. Hurray!

Hubby, we haven’t found anything new for a while now, have we?

Maggie, that would be creepy! A Barbie graveyard.

Bigsis, you are the least person I thought would like these photos, thank you! Yes, you were on that trip with us to the Walkway—good memory! We can go to Long Pond for a walk if you’d like when you’re here.

Steve, there has to be more to the story than that, doesn’t there?

More like a Barbie torture chamber… and yes… it WAS very creepy.
