It’s that time of year again. Time to don ye ole medieval clothing and get thee to the New York Renaissance Faire! This, of course, means getting laced up into my bodice and being Wench-for-a-Day. I know you must think I’m nuts, but I really could dress like this all the time. (I’ve spared you the full view.)
Here are some scenes from the Faire.
I fell in love with this fairie costume:
Rick wanted his photo taken “getting into m’lady’s panties.”
This sign spoke to me. I wonder why ...
What’s a Renaissance Faire without a joust?
Even a wise wizard needs a nap once in a while.
It was very hot and very humid at the Faire. If we had been dressed in shorts and t-shirts it would have been bearable, but in full costume we were close to heat prostration—whew! We couldn’t wait to get home and jump in the pool even if the water was as cold as it usually is in early June. It felt wonderful and certainly cooled us off.
So, I’ve hung up my bodice until the next time. Sigh. Back to reality.
I just love your blog. You live in a most beautiful area and I so envy your family of bears. I saw 2 black bears sat on the side of the railway line whilst we were travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer and thought they were just amazing. I hope you don’t mind me dropping by your blog site. Joyce

Oh what a fun faire! That has much more appeal to me than all these big state fairs.
Speaking of not being fair, WHY don’t we get to see your whole costume? I’m sure that you were the Fairest of the Faire! lol

Joyce: Welcome! Come back anytime!
Susan: well .... WHY you don’t get to see the whole costume has to do with this being G (General Audience) rated blog. Let’s just say that the bodice boosts my bosoms to an alarming, ehr, position. ‘nuff said!

Can you imagine having to dress like that every day no matter the weather? No washing machines or dry cleaners back then either. I admit I’ve never quite understood the allure of the Ren Fest. I used to read tarot at the Maryland faire. I, too, couldn’t wait to rip that outfit off at the end of the day.
But the faires are harmless, and fun, so why not?? Glad you had such a good time!

Great pics Lynne, look at you! I remember the last time you visited the faire when you bought that outfit….didn’t even show us that much so I think your getting a little more daring <grin>....has it really been that long since you moved? Time truly does fly.
