I am thankful for so many things today. My home. My husband. My dogs and cats (especially new “little” Bella). My friends and family. My “new” Jersey life.
Carolyn is down from Rhode Island and we plan to have a feast today. Turkey (well, not for her since she is a vegetarian!), stuffing, creamed onions, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, french green bean casserole, homemade cranberry sauce and Mom’s pumpkin pie. We plan to laugh, talk, drink wine and enjoy the day.
I hope your holiday is just what you want it to be, regardless of what you are doing. Even the little squirrels who have been feasting on my pumpkin (meant to be a front step decoration) will have their own Thanksgiving feast.
Enjoy!

The squirrels give thanks to you…
I’m glad our Thanksgiving is not as close to Christmas.
Happy US Thanksgiving.

Creamed onions? Now you’ve got me curious!

Thanks Paula. I wish we could inject an extra month in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would make it so much easier to prepare for Christmas which I never start thinking about until Thanksgiving is over with!
Susan, never heard of creamed onions? I think it’s an Eastern thing. Take little white boiling onions (or pearl onions if you like), cook them until tender; then add milk and thicken with a flour/water mixture until desired thickness. There you have creamed onions!
