Our horse drawn carriage ride around the city stopped at the Iglesia de La Merced. Our carriage driver said we should not miss the view from the top of the bell tower. Here we are approaching the church.

We paid our $1.00 admission fee and then saw the steps up to the top. Good thing we are not claustrophobic!

The view over the city of Granada in all directions was indeed worth the short climb.

In the last two photos you can see Volcán Mombacho in the distance which will feature in another blog post.

Our driver waving to us from below! Our carriage awaits!

Rick makes his way down the narrow, winding stairs.

I hope you enjoyed the view!
Jersey Girl, hope you enjoyed all the views from my beloved Granada. I lived around the corner from “La Iglesia La Merced”. I was born and raised in Granada and also lived in New Jersey too. The revolution force me and my generation to live in exile. I can’t wait to go home when the time right.

In your picture #10 is my grandparents home. It is a stunning home. The picture was obviously taken from the roof of “La Iglesia La Merced”. The house is on the far right and you can see three white arches of the second floor. It is a corner house painted in red and white. It is located on “Calle La Libertad” and it is across from “Hotel La Bocona”. It is as nice as Ramon Lopez’s home which is the big blue house in front of the “La Iglesia La Merced”. Granada is among one of the five oldest cities in Latin America.

Michel, wow. It looks wonderful. And yes, this photo was taken from exactly where you said it was taken. I found the people of Nicaragua to be very proud of their country which I loved about them. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and adding to the whole experience. We visited both Nicaragua and Panama on our trip but somehow our Granada stay is the most memorable in so many ways.
