“K” is for Kitchen (remodel)

Two days after Memorial Day work began on our kitchen remodel. Cabinets came out and we were left with a big empty space. A dirty, somewhat messy big empty space. Here are some photos of before and during. Things to notice in the following three photos are
1) lovely BLUE formica countertops
2) outdated sink
3) large microwave on countertop
4) wooden hood over cooktop
5) old wall ovens on their last legs
6) hanging pot rack over island
7) large overhang on center island meant to be an eating place but not enough room to do so
8) ceiling fan / light combination

These are things you won’t see in the new kitchen!!

Hopefully the countertops will go in just before we leave next week. If not, I guess we’ll have to wait to see our completed kitchen after we return from vacation. Can’t wait!

Comments:

OMG—go away for vacation and come home to a brand new beautiful kitchen!!  Wow—that’s awesome!!  love your choices—so beautiful

The kitchen is looking good…so far. I love the counter colour. Hard waiting for it all to be completed.

Makin’ progress! You’d better want that marble in soon, it’ll be 90’s all weekend…record highs. Global Warming anyone? 90 Saturday, 92 Sunday, 95 (!) Monday! And i’ll be in school, where we have heat and windows, yay. =(
At least I’ve got my air conditioner in my room =]
J for Jungle. I’ll bet out at… night. yea. except for my soccer games in the air that’ll feel like I’m swiming lol.

Your new kitchen looks great!  I was wondering if you could give me the measurements of your old island with the overhang.  I’m getting an island in my new kitchen that looks like it might be the same size as your old one.  Was it at least big enough to have a bowl of cereal?  Is that a drawer microwave in the new island?  The granite is beautiful.
