I found this cicada not long after it had emerged from the nymph stage.

I hope they do! How fortunate for you to have captured a pic of this guy with shell.
I used to collect them (regular cicada shells, not these big monsters) when we were kids. And still do pick one up whenever I see one, usually a couple times a summer!
