One Year Ago

IMG 3192

One year ago today my blog went private. At the present time I have no plans to open it back up to the public. I am enjoying my own little space!

I want to take a moment to thank all of you that joined for caring enough to register. Initially I had sent out an email invite to join the private blog to all of the people who were frequent commenters or who I knew read the blog. As time went on I got emails from people wanting to join that I didn’t even know were reading. Always a pleasant surprise!

So, thank you all for reading my humble little blog!

These beauties were growing in amongst the water lilies but I don’t know what they are! The petals look like peacock feathers, don’t they?

P.S. The water lilies are done now at Skylands (these were taken a month or so ago) so no more photos of them until next year. Aren’t you glad? Enough water lilies, Lynne!

And, oh,
Just in case anyone was wondering about the status of Mr. Craigslist, he did not show last night. Nor did he call. Surprising? No.

Comments:

What beautiful photos!! Love the water lilies, especially. For me, never enough of them.

Bigsis, what a sweet comment! Considering the fact that you really don’t like flower photos! Thanks!

Great shots!  I have lots of catching up to do here…especially enjoyed the ren faire shots!

Lynne, the purple flowers are water hyacinths—they’re beautiful plants from South America, but in the states (at least in the South) they’re considered a noxious weed. They clog waterways and really take over.

When I went to summer camp as a kid, we learned that you can peel the bulb at the base of the water hyacinth leaf and chew the pulp to get drinking water. How’s that for a survival skill?

How strange that the water hyacinths just have that one petal with the ‘peacock” feather on it.  Was just reading that it has started to be used for cattle food and in wastewater treatment plants because it can tolerate a high level of pollution.  They are beautiful though.

I’m so glad you registered me to access your blog - I really enjoy your posts.  I love the photos of the water lilies - such a pretty colour. It would be no surprise that the chap did not turn up!
