Rain

Coolness. Air conditioning off. Windows open.

Finally. A rainy day. A welcome relief from the dry, hot weather we’ve been experiencing.

From drops softly splashing into puddles, to drops angrily pelleting the roof.
It’s all good.

The thirsty ground greedily drinks in the welcome moisture. —slurp!—

The flowers bow under the weight of the drops, grateful to be washed clean.

Trees softly stir in the light breeze, shedding water from their leaves like a dog shaking after a bath.

Rivulets of water run down the incline of our driveway.

The gutters on the house gurgle and splash.

And I am renewed with every drop that falls.

Comments:

I remember the drought in New Jersey a couple of years ago, and it was SUCH a relief when we finally got rain. (And then about a zillion mushrooms came up, fueled by the drought’s dead plant matter!)

Steve, I can imagine you are sick of rain! I am hoping some mushrooms fruit!

I wish I could be as happy at the sight of rain when, in fact, I am sick of the sight of it! However,  we did have a dry and warmer day today.  Love the photo - I thought you had posted it upside down at first.

I don’t think we got up to 70 yesterday!  Every time I looked at the thermometer it was about 65.  We got sprinkles nearly all day.  And the AC was off and the windows open all night.  I even pulled up a light blanket at one point!  It felt WONDERFUL!  Up in the 80s today though but at least the humidity is lower.  Waiting for the cool of twilight with anticipation!

Joyce, I know! I’ve heard the U.K. is having a horribly wet summer. Not just from you from a fellow blogger in London. I can imagine you are as sick of rain as I was of the relentless sun and dryness. Too much of anything is never good! LOL, re the photo being upside down. That’s the sign of a good reflection! smile

C, We didn’t either. Not today either, it’s really nice outside!

There you go again—-waxing poetic. That style really plays well with your awesome photography!

Still somewhat steamy (HUMID) here, but welcome relief of thunderstorms the past 2 afternoons and eves. Lots of good rain. It rained so hard yesterday afternoon that Southpark Mall (our grandest) had a partial roof collapse causing water pipes to burst and major water damage! W.‘s ladder company responded as did many other FDs and he was mopping (squeegeeing- sp?) up water for 5 hrs!

Bigsis, yeah, that’s me: Ms Waxing Poetic! Sorry, sometimes that’s just the way I feel. smile Glad you liked the pic. Poor W! Sounds likes miserable job! Glad you at least had rain but sorry it was too much!
