High atop a snow bank in the grocery store parking lot, there sits a lonely little grocery cart. It’s been stuck in the snow since the Christmas storms when it got swept up by the snow plows. It almost made a break for freedom during our recent thaw, but got caught once again in the plow’s path in our storm earlier this week.
I feel kind of sorry for it. Left out of the daily cart round-ups. No one to push it through the heated, well-lit aisles. It’s spacious basket not filled up with goodies that it was meant to hold.
With our expected below-freezing daytime temperatures this coming week I think it might be there for a while.
Oh, the poor cart needs help! Won’t you rescue it?
I have this weird thing about inanimate objects. I will pick up a loaf of bread or a bag of rice (or anything) that has fallen in the aisle of the supermarket floor because I this is what I do, but what it all boils down to is that I FEEL SORRY FOR IT!!

It does look just a bit forlorn there in the snow…

Lynne, this post is a BIG SMILE post but I’m actually feeling sorry for that red cart. It is cute! What I’m really smiling about though are the snow squirrels…what a hoot! I missed them when first posted so I’m really glad I paged down. And that snow woman…pure art. Your dad could have given Rodin a run for his money!

Bigsis, I would if I could, however it would take A LOT of arm work to rescue it. I pick up fallen things in the grocery store aisles too, so maybe it’s hereditary.
Madge, Glad you stopped by! It is forlorn for sure.
Helene, HAHA. I’m glad I made both my sister and you feel sorry for it. The snow squirrel is now history after our high temps of today. A melted mess! My Dad was for sure a great artist. He went on to bless my walls with his paintings. He was something else.

I have that same weird empathy for inanimate objects. Not sure where it comes from. I used to see this same thing happen at our Shoprite in East Brunswick. Some store manager needs to have a meeting with his employees about retrieving ALL the carts from the lot each night!
When I worked at a hardware chain store in the 1980s, our manager used to send us out with a pickup truck to retrieve carts that shoppers had rolled blocks and blocks away from our store. Those carts are EXPENSIVE!

Steve, I agree! Round up the carts at closing time!
