The other day this little sunflower bloomed in the front yard where I toss bird seed for the birds. Somehow this little sunflower seed managed to escape being eaten and beat the odds by germinating and finally blooming without anyone's help. Pretty amazing.

What a sweet little sunflower! It seems a little late in the summer for it to bloom, but maybe that’s because of where you live. Our sunflowers are pretty much done!

Bigsis, I think it got a late start on the season. It’s incredible it made it without being eaten!

Nice! On a corner near my apartment in New York City someone would periodically scatter bird seed, and a lot of it sprouted in one of those squares where the street trees are planted. It produced the oddest assortment of grasses, sunflowers and other stuff.
