I know, I don’t particularly like caterpillars either, but this brightly attired one was on the bird bath when I went to change the water out. The different colored spots, blue and red on its back and yellow on the side were fascinating to me. Is it going to be a butterfly or a moth? Will it have the same color of spots on its wings?

All I can say is ... Ewwwww!!!
Probably it will be a moth, since there are so many more moths than butterflies. What a strange life these creatures live. Talk about transformation!
Do you read Lettuce Eating? She’s been photographing her tadpoles as they transform into “froglets” - her word.
Nature is incredible.

yes you might like lettuce’s blog. click on ‘eat lettuce’ on my sidebar. when i was a podlet, i collected loads of caterpillars whilst out on my (lady penelope) bike. i put them all in my trouser pocket and cycled home! i was horrified (and terribly itchy) when i got home!
