1 cup whole milk 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 4 large egg yolks 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup Grand Marnier liqueur 1 quart strawberries, hulled, cut into bite-size pieces or slices |

Instructions:

In top of double boiler, scald milk, cream and vanilla. In a small bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until light yellow in color. Add egg mixture to milk mixture very slowly (or stir in a bit of the hot milk mixture into the yolk mixture first), stirring constantly over low heat until sauce thickens. Let cool a bit; stir in liqueur. Pour into lidded jar and refrigerate. To serve, bring sauce to room temperature; pour over strawberries. |
