1-1/2 bottles good Cote du Rhone wine 1 sliced lemon 3-4 oranges, peeled and quartered 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 vanilla bean 1/2 cup sugar (scant 1/2 cup) 1 cup good cognac |

Instructions:

Put wine, lemon slices, oranges, nutmeg and vanilla bean in a glass container and seal. Keep in a cool place for at least 40 days. Remove the lemons and oranges and filter the wine. Add the sugar and cognac and re-seal. Keep for another 30 days. |
